From Father George's Desk

My Dear Family,

With the beginning of a new year, I always seem to be energized.  Energized over the “newness” of everything … the possibilities of what might be.     It’s like getting eye glasses and seeing the world clearly for the first time.

We are blessed at St. Michael’s to have a wonderful vestry and amazing people in leadership positions.

I have learned over the last 20+ years that in spite of the leadership abilities of vestries and effective leaders within various organizations…what determines whether the amazing view of the world that I have today remain clear or becomes dim … depends on you --- the people in the pews.

An effective leader is successful only if the people in the pews are willing to “suit up and show up”.

You are the ones that will make St. Michael’s vision a reality.  We need your help!!!

You have gifts that can make a difference within the family of St. Michael’s and in your community.  If those gifts go unused they will eventually disappear.

I am asking you to search your hearts and souls and ask --- not --- “do I have gifts to offer” --- but “am I willing to share them.”

The season of Lent is upon us.  A time in which we are asked to reflect and act.  I challenge you to make a commitment to our Heavenly Father --- that you will do for Him and His children --- what He has already done for you.  He died in order that you might inherit eternity…. Give Him the best that you have to offer.  Seems to be a fair exchange.  Don’t you?

                             In peace,

Father George+
